Youth Leadership Conference
July 8-12, 2024
Georgia FFA/FCCLA Center, Covington, Ga.
Objectives:
The objectives of the conference are to make available valuable leadership development
opportunities for
youth while heightening awareness of cooperatives and exploring the cooperative way of doing
business.
Activities:
► Take a field trip to a working cooperative. Plans for the coming program include a visit to a
dairy farm and an electric cooperative to see how they operate.
► Personality Assessments: Participate in a two-part activity to assess your personality and
explore how to work with people with different styles and outlooks.
► Co-op Encounter Sessions: Meet with representatives from cooperatives to hear about their
purpose, services and community involvement and the types of career opportunities available.
► Create a Cooperative: Learn about the cooperative way of business and work with fellow campers to
imagine your own cooperative using the “7 Cooperative Principles.”
► Participate in activities that teach leadership skills and get to know your fellow campers
through lighthearted group and individual projects and competitions.
► Recreation: Enjoy group activities like a pool party, the Blob and a mega water slide as well as
optional activities like a challenging high ropes and a mud obstacle course. Spend your downtime
with new friends relaxing by the lake shore or at the canteen playing miniature golf, ping pong,
basketball or volleyball.

Who May Attend: Youth with the following qualifications:
● youth with leadership abilities
● must have completed freshman year of high school but not yet attending college
● have NOT previously attended the conference
